We’re wrapping up our coffee series with one of our favorites, the brand Gaviña Gourmet Coffee. They are a semi-local, family-owned business on a mission to serve quality coffee. Let’s dive in and learn a little bit more about them and why we love them.
A little about Gaviña Gourmet Coffee.
The Gaviña Gourmet Coffee story goes way back to 1870. Brothers José María and Ramón moved to the mountains of southern Cuba and started planting coffee bean seeds. This small operation would eventually grow to become F. Gaviña & Sons. In 1967, Gaviña expanded from coffee growing to coffee roasting when they opened their roasting facility in Los Angeles.
While the business has expanded a lot over the years, Gaviña family members still run the business today. They still oversee all aspects of the coffee business. Whether it be personally selecting the beans, cup sampling, managing production, or specialty roasting every day – they do it all.
