Mike and Jodi Glimpse, former sales managers for Cutco Cutlery, transitioned to vending after attending a trade show. They had a very humble beginning to the start of their vending careers. In September of 2001 they went to a tradeshow and there was a bulk vendor from U-turn. They saw the equipment and thought that it would be great for Mike’s Cutco office. The U-Turn rep gave them a brochure, and said that he was selling this one if they wanted to buy it. They called him back and said they were buying 50 machines. They figured it was a good way to get Jodi out of the house and keep her mentally stimulated as she wasn’t finding that in just being a full time mom.
From 2001 to 2004 Jodi added multiple machines to her bulk vending route and it became a successful little business that didn’t demand a ton of her time which was good because she had two small girls at home. In fact, she would often be found pulling a red wagon into locations that contained Alexis, Savannah, or both girls, along with the product needed to refill the machine.
In the fall of 2004 their son Austin was born, Mike left Cutco, and they decided to move into the full service vending business. They started Camelback Vending Services of Phoenix area, AZ, when they purchased a small twenty-machine ice cream route. Austin would often be found playing in the corner of their little warehouse as they were preparing equipment or setting sales appointments.
